Enchanting (Short Version)

Allow me to explain the purpose of this document before I move on. Personally, I do not think there is anything to enchanting. Many people are under the impression that it is a complicated process. This is just not so. In fact it is quite easy and here is the process to do it.

Note: This enchanting guide leaves out the fine details of the process such as formulas for success, potion modifiers, and so on. This guide however will allow you to have a good understanding of the process and allow you to figure out some of those details on your own. Basically I provide the outline; you fill in the gaps. Personally I think that is the best way to learn something. That may just be me though.

Materials
Obviously you need the item you wish to enchant. Also you will need a potion to temper the item with. I suggest a rohnuru potion. It contains 5 doses each bottle.
Pouring
When you have all your materials in line you want to pour your tempering potion on the desired item. You probably want to do this in a node or a workshop. After you have made the pour you will get a message telling you how long to wait before the item is ready to be enchanted.
Place to Enchant
When you enchant, the location in which you make the cast and pour the potion on the object is important. For small enchants I usually go to the Wolves Den or AI Workshop in the Landing. For larger enchants I usually go to the Tower on Teras.
Infusing
To successfully enchant an item you need to infuse a certain amount of manna into the manna pool. Just type infuse (amount of manna), and you will release that amount of manna into the manna pool. That is provided you have a 102 bonus in manna share. If you do not you will successfully release a percentage of your manna equal to that of your bonus in manna share. The table below will tell you how much manna is needed for that level of enchantment. You also need to infuse inside the manna pool as well as outside. If you are at the Tower on Teras, for example, and you are done infusing inside the tower, you will want to go down the stairs and start infusing outside.
Note: This table takes into account the changes that occurred as of late. I basically doubled what was needed before and placed the appropriate numbers in the table.

Casting
When you think you have enough manna in the pool to enchant and the item you are enchanting is fully tempered, you are ready to cast 925 at the item. If you are uncertain, cast at it anyway, if you have insufficient manna it just says that and does not blow up the item or anything. You just want to make sure the item is tempered. If the message you get says there is insufficient manna just infuse more manna where you feel it could be needed, either inside the manna pool or outside.

So as a summary the process is:

  1. Pour potion on item.
  2. Wait for temper.
  3. Infuse manna.
  4. Cast at item.

I personally suggest getting an item from a shop in town and a potion from the alchemist and attempting just a 0x to 1x. It should take very little time and you need to infuse very little manna. It will be quick and easy, and you will know how to enchant. It really is quite a simple process, do not be intimidated. If you have any questions at all just Mail Me.
